Wondering If Yoga Therapy Is Right for You?

You may be exploring Yoga Therapy because you’re navigating a specific concern or ongoing challenge.

Maybe you're managing chronic back discomfort, arthritis, osteoporosis or another physical concern. Maybe your balance or mobility has changed, or traditional yoga and exercise aren't working as well for your body as they once did.

You may also be returning to movement after an injury or surgery, navigating changes in strength or stability, or looking for a more targeted approach to a persistent issue that has not improved with general exercise.

Yoga Therapy gives us the opportunity to look more closely at how you’re moving, what you’re experiencing, and what may be limiting your ability to do the things that matter to you.

What Is Yoga Therapy?

Yoga Therapy is not simply a private yoga class.

At Foundations, Yoga Therapy is provided by a Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) and begins with an in-depth intake.

Yoga practices are selected and adapted as therapeutic tools based on your individual needs.

The practice is adapted to you - not the other way around.

Why Do People Explore Yoga Therapy?

  • Chronic back discomfort

  • Sciatica and disc-related concerns

  • Osteoarthritis and joint stiffness

  • Osteoporosis and osteopenia

  • Persistent shoulder, hip, or knee concerns

  • Changes in balance or mobility

  • Physical limitations affecting daily life

  • Spinal conditions and postural changes

  • Movement confidence

What Happens in Yoga Therapy?

01 — Your first session begins with a detailed intake to better understand what you’re experiencing and what you hope to address through Yoga Therapy.

02 — We explore how you’re currently moving—what has changed, what’s difficult, what you can comfortably do, and what you’d like to improve or maintain.

03 — We work together to design your program and address your goals. Your Certified Yoga Therapist develops and adapts yoga-based practices around your individual needs and goals.

The goal is bigger than doing yoga poses.

What matters is how the work we do together supports the activities and experiences that are important to you.

That might mean feeling steadier on the stairs, getting up and down from the floor with more confidence, continuing to garden or exercise, traveling comfortably, or returning to something you have had to give up.

Yoga Therapy connects the work we do in a session to what matters in your life outside of it.

Private Yoga or Yoga Therapy?

Both are one-on-one services at Foundations, but they are not the same thing.

Yoga Therapy Is Part of Your Care
Not a Replacement for It.

Yoga Therapy can complement the care you're already receiving, but it does not replace medical diagnosis or treatment.

If you have a new injury, acute pain, unexplained symptoms or another medical concern, please speak with your healthcare provider.

If you're currently working with a physician, physical therapist or another healthcare professional, let your Yoga Therapist know.
